MySpace is a social networking site that was launched initially in 2003 by Tom Anderson, Chris DeWolfe, and Jon Hart. MySpace was the largest social media site worldwide from 2005 through 2009. but declined steadily after 2009 and fell behind Facebook in both US and worldwide visitors. As of January 2018, MySpace was number 1,657 on the list of most visited sites in the USA. The site was purchased by Time Inc. in 2016 and is currently operated by Meredith Corporation, which purchased Time in early 2018 and is headquartered in Beverly Hills, California. MySpace is available in 14 languages to users around the globe. It was the largest social network worldwide from 2005 until 2009. The site is still active but with a much smaller pool of members than were previously active in its busiest period. Members can sign up for MySpace for free by entering basic information such as their name, age, and email address or by importing this information from their Google or active Facebook accounts. Users could always add music and embed videos to their MySpace profile. Membership is free to the site, and there are no known features that require a paid subscription at this time. Members may use their account to browse and communicate with other users on the site, as well as add them to a friends list.
