Medium was founded by Evan Clark Williams out of San Francisco, California in July 2011. After generating $132 million in venture funding, it officially launched on August 14, 2012. It is currently owned by A Medium Corporation with over 80 employees. It is available primarily in English, with some publications in Spanish, French, and a host of other languages.
Medium is an online blog that incorporates works from a wide range of writers from amateurs to professionals, and everything in between. It spans from business to culture to life in general. Medium offers unlimited access to this content on a membership basis that is free of advertising. It also gives writers the chance to publish their content on the site for other members to access. Authors publishing on Medium retains the rights to their own content.
Memberships with Medium cost $5 per month or $50 per year, with renewals being automatically processed. New customers will need to create an account and can do so using their Google sign in, Facebook sign in, or with their email. Members must be 13 years of age or older.
