Loot Crate is a monthly subscription box service. It includes boxes filled with geek and game-related merchandise. It was founded in 2012 by Chris Davis and Matthew Arevalo. The goal of Loot Crate was to have “Comic-Con in a box”. The company has over 200,000 subscribers in over 10 countries throughout the world. The company was ranked #1 on Inc’s Fastest Growing Private Companies in 2016. Some featured partners of the company are Mass Effect, Halo, Marvel, Harry Potter, Fallout, Minecraft, Nickelodeon, Firefly, Samrio, WWE, Destiny, Cartoon Network, and Overwatch. Several famous YouTubers also partner with the company, providing advertising and promotion via exclusive reviews and first-look unboxing content.
The first step during the sign-up process is finding and choosing your crate. You can choose between various crates under Pop Culture, Gaming, Film and TV, and Sci-Fi and Fantasy. After you have chosen your crate, it will be prepared for shipment. Your crate will include a bundle of apparel, figures, and more exclusive theme-based content. Your crate will be delivered directly to you and you will be able to unbox the ultimate geek subscription box, enjoying all of the goodies that are shipped to you. Boxes are shipped on a monthly basis. They typically arrive between the 1st and the 10th of every month. Pricing varies depending on the crate that you choose. There are also products available for individual purchase. These can be found in the Loot Vault. If you are a sports fan, you can purchase sport-themed crates in the Sports Crate section. Each month, you are welcome to share your content and photos in the Loot Crate Community section on the website.
Loot Crate is for self-proclaimed nerds everywhere. It’s like Comic-Con in a box, or at least that’s how they advertise it. It includes collectibles, memorabilia, and other unique items you can’t purchase them anywhere else.
This is an awesome gift idea for anyone who loves video games or comics. It’s also a great surprise since you don’t get to hand select your items yourself. You never know what you’ll get.
Because they’re based in Los Angeles, they’re on the up and up when it comes to new releases, Hollywood, Comic-Con, and all things geeky. It’s a fantastic option for people who want a subscription box for comic books, Star Wars, and other popular franchises.
Loot Crate Cancellation Policy
Loot Crate is a convenient box that ships monthly so you can cancel it any time. Unless you’ve subscribed for several months in advance, there are no contracts or obligations keeping you from terminating your account.
That being said, you do have to cancel your account at least 48 hours before your next monthly box ships, or you will be on the hook for one last payment. Cancelling less than 48 in advance means your box will still ship and you’ll still be charged.
You also won’t receive any refunds for boxes that have already shipped and you won’t be able to cancel the current box from shipping if you cancel it too late.

Loot Crate Alternatives
If you didn’t like Loot Crate as much as you thought you would or you’d like to see what other options are available, there are plenty of subscription boxes available to try. You may even like them better. Here are some cool alternatives.
Marvel Collector Corps
The Marvel Collector Corps has a partnership with Funko. They work together to deliver popular characters, t-shirts, collector patches, comic books, and a lot more. If you like DC more than Marvel, they have a subscription box, too.
This box is better suited for people who prefer superheroes or the Marvel universe over video games, Star Wars, and other pop culture subjects.
If you want your box to focus solely on comic books rather than other collectible items like figurines and t-shirts, this box may be a better option. If you spend your afternoons at the comic book shop on the corner, this box will send the latest issues to your door instead.
Their panel of experts hand picks a different theme every month. You’ll get several issues that meet this theme in every box.
Brick Loot is a box that includes anywhere from 4 to 8 brick toys in every box. Each month has a different theme and there are several other boxes that have similar contents like Brickswag or Brickbox.
Once Upon a Tee
Now, for nerds everywhere who live in t-shirts, this box includes only wearables. You’ll receive themed boxes like Doctor Who or The Legend of Zelda. The t-shirts are printed exclusively for this subscription box and you can’t buy them anywhere else.
You can also enter monthly drawings to receive gift cards to their online store.
FAQ: Cancelling My Loot Crate Subscription
If you’re on the fence about canceling Loot Crate or which alternative to choose, here are some frequently asked questions that can help you decide.
How do I cancel my Loot Crate auto-renewal?
If you have an auto-renewal, you can still cancel in all the same ways as you cancel your Loot Crate account. Just log in to your account and go to the Payment Info section. Click the Cancel Subscription button and follow the steps.
The same rules apply. If you do it 48 hours before they ship your next box, your account will be canceled and you won’t be charged.
Can you cancel Loot Crate anytime?
Yes, there are no contracts or obligations, so you can cancel your account anytime. However, your automated monthly subscription will continue to process if you cancel it less than 48 hours before the next box ships.
You’ll have to wait for your next box to ship, then you can cancel your account afterward. You’ll still be charged for all boxes that ship, but you won’t be charged after you cancel it.
Is Loot Crate shutting down?
There was some publicity in July 2019 that Loot Crate might be shutting down. They had filed for bankruptcy and laid off some employees. They even closed their warehouse. They seem to have recovered nicely because they’re still in business, although they are working through a third-party logistics company to ship the boxes.
They had sent out word that they were going to ship all remaining boxes before the shut down, but now they’re back in full swing and you can still sign up. If you’re wanting to cancel your account, you can still do that, too.
Can you skip a month of Loot Crate?
The cool thing about Loot Crate is that you don’t have to fully commit either way. If you’re not sure whether you want to cancel or continue, you can just skip a month for now. Log in to your account and navigate to the Manage Account page.
Click on the Account tab and select your subscription. The Skip button will allow you to skip the next month and the next billing date will be displayed. It will give you some time to decide what you want to do moving forward.
Why is my Loot Crate account locked?
If you try to log in unsuccessfully 5 times in a row, they will lock your user account and send an email with instructions on how to log in. Once you get logged in, you can continue to cancel your account.
If you receive the email but you still have trouble, you can always cancel via live chat, phone, or email.
Final Thoughts: Deleting Loot Crate
Subscription boxes are popular, and Loot Crate is a great idea. You’ll get original items each month that you can’t get anywhere else. However, if you decide to cancel your account, it’s easy to do using several different methods.
You can also skip months and take breaks rather than canceling altogether, giving you a bit more flexibility than some other subscription services.
