About Care.com

Care.com is a website that helps people find child care, senior care, special needs care, tutoring, pet care, housekeeping, and more. The company launched in May 2007. The company was founded by Sheila Lirio Marcelo. She came up with the idea when she experienced trouble finding childcare for her first child. Her father also had a heart attack, so she needed to find someone to care for him as well. Marcelo also still serves as the Chief Executive Officer. As of 2014, Care.com is a publicly-traded company. The headquarters are located in Waltham, MA. In 2012, Care expanded to the United Kingdom. Shortly after, their services expanded to Canada. There are currently over 33 million members from over 20 countries. Whether you’re offering care or seeking care, Care.com is a perfect website to use to find what you need. You can easily find sitters, nannies, senior care, pet care, tutoring, and much more. Care has various membership tiers. The basic membership is free. With a basic membership, you are able to set up your account, post a job, search and view profiles of local caregivers, and receive applications from local caregivers. Premium membership includes everything the basic membership plan includes, plus the ability to contact caregivers to schedule interviews, request background checks, and reply to applications and other messages received from caregivers. For a one-month membership, it is $39 per month. For 3-months, it is $78. For an annual membership, it is $156. When you are searching for jobs, you can do so for free, most of the time. But in order to become a verified member, you will need to purchase a background check on yourself. Fees may incur depending on what type of jobs you are applying for and how many jobs you are applying for. If you would like to cancel your Care.com membership, follow the cancellation instructions that are included on this page.
